In short
- Every project, task, and setting you create is stored only on your own device. We never see it, and it is never uploaded to any server we run.
- My Cockpit contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
- The free plan works with no account and no data leaving your browser.
- The optional Pro plan is billed by ExtensionPay, a third-party payment processor — see Payments & Pro plan.
Overview
This policy covers the My Cockpit Chrome extension ("My Cockpit," "the extension," "we"). My Cockpit is a project-planning tool — a work breakdown structure synced to a Gantt chart — that opens as a page inside your browser. It is designed around a simple principle: your project data belongs to you, stays on your device, and is never a product we sell or share.
Installing and using My Cockpit means you accept the practices described below. If you don't agree with them, please don't install or continue using the extension.
Data we collect
My Cockpit collects and stores exactly one category of data, and it never leaves your device:
The projects, tasks, resources, issues/risks/notes, and settings you create inside the extension
are saved using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This is a local database
that lives inside your browser profile on your own computer — the same way a note-taking app
might save a file to your hard drive. We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or has
visibility into this data.
If you use the JSON export feature, that file is written directly to your downloads folder by your browser. We are not involved in that transfer and never receive a copy.
Data we don't collect
My Cockpit does not, under any circumstance:
- Track your browsing activity, the pages you visit, or your history
- Collect analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or usage statistics
- Show advertising or share data with advertising networks
- Sell, rent, or trade any information to third parties
- Require an account or email address to use the free plan
- Read or modify the content of any website you visit — My Cockpit has no permission to do so
Permissions we request
Chrome requires extensions to declare the permissions they use. My Cockpit requests the minimum needed to function:
| Permission | What it's for |
|---|---|
| storage | Saves your projects and settings locally in the browser, and caches your Pro/Free plan status so it doesn't need to be re-checked on every load. |
| host_permissions extensionpay.com |
Lets the extension check your subscription status and open the checkout page for the optional Pro plan. See Payments & Pro plan. |
My Cockpit does not request activeTab, host access to arbitrary websites, or any
permission that would let it observe your browsing.
Payments & the Pro plan
My Cockpit's core planner is free. An optional Pro plan unlocks additional features (unlimited projects, task dependencies, resource conflict detection, and more) for a monthly subscription.
Who handles your payment
Subscriptions are processed by ExtensionPay, an independent third-party billing service built for browser extensions, using Stripe as its payment processor. When you choose to upgrade, you're taken to a checkout page hosted by ExtensionPay in a new browser tab — your payment details (card number, billing address, etc.) are entered there and go directly to Stripe. My Cockpit never receives, stores, or has access to your payment card details.
What My Cockpit does receive
To know whether to unlock Pro features, the extension asks ExtensionPay for your subscription
status and receives back: whether you have an active paid plan, the plan type, and the email
address you used at checkout (if any). This information is used only to enable Pro features
locally and is stored in the same on-device chrome.storage.local described above.
Third-party services
ExtensionPay (and Stripe, which it uses for payment processing) is the only third-party service My Cockpit communicates with, and only if you choose to view or purchase the Pro plan. Their handling of any data you give them during checkout is governed by their own policies, not this one:
No other third party is contacted by this extension.
Data retention & deletion
Your project data remains in your browser's local storage for as long as the extension is installed. You are always in full control of it:
- Delete a single project any time from the dashboard — this removes it immediately and permanently.
- Export any project to a JSON file to keep your own backup, independent of the extension.
- Uninstalling My Cockpit from Chrome deletes all locally stored data along with it.
Because we never receive a copy of your project data, there is nothing on our end to retain or delete — removing it from your device removes it entirely.
Children's privacy
My Cockpit is a professional project-management tool and is not directed at, marketed to, or knowingly used by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
Because your project data stays on your device rather than passing through our servers, it's protected by the same security boundary as the rest of your browser profile. We recommend keeping Chrome up to date and using your operating system's account protections, since those safeguard the local storage this extension relies on.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, note the update in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing. Continuing to use My Cockpit after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
